Entrepreneurs are like artists in many ways. Like artists, they possess a vision for something new. Pablo Picasso once said, “An act of art begins as an act of destruction”. Like artists, Entrepreneurs challenge the status quo and come out with “path defining” ideas. And they find their eureka moments not in their final discoveries but in the process of reaching the result – in the chaos generated by their experiments. This is what we at iWeekend call “Creative Chaos”.
Creative chaos is generated when conventional patterns are destroyed, with the hope of creating something new from the destruction. Entrepreneurs consider this moment a breakthrough, as a new and unexpected result rises from the rubble of a former creative stumbling block.
Before I attended my first iWeekend event, the 3 great “Cs” entrepreneurs preached about – Co-operation, Creativity and Collaboration had always intrigued me. That weekend of March 2010 really changed my perception. I witnessed the power of “Creative Chaos” at play. 50 entrepreneurs from all over India had assembled at the beautiful and serene campus of IIM Ahmedabad. We debated, questioned each other, brain-stormed but often did not reach a consensus. But after 2 days and a few hours, Magic happened! We had created 3 working prototypes of ideas that never existed before. Creative Chaos had brought the artists out of us. I felt like a composer who had just put together a classic symphony!
There is an old saying – “one cannot make an omelette without breaking some eggs”. Well….not only did we break eggs; we also burnt our pans in the process. And burning the figurative “pans” for me was the real take away. 3 years and a 5 events later, the power of “creative chaos” continues to awe inspire me!
Come experience the power of Creative Chaos at iWeekend Pune!
