Mukesh Sharma

Mukesh is a co-founder of the SME Investment Bank, a platform that enables entrepreneurs to raise early-stage capital in the range of US$100k-US$3m from a dedicated investor network. He also provides Business Startup services focused on launching market validated business models and create business plans used for executing the growth strategy and securing external funding.

Mukesh is a mentor at CIIE as part of a MentorEdge network. He is also an advisor to Villgro, a Chennai based impact focused incubator that funds and supports innovative business models in health, energy, agriculture, education and other grass root focused businesses. Mukesh is currently advising several start-ups and is an independent nominee to the board of Biosense Technologies Private Limited, a CIIE and Villgro incubatee.

Mukesh is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA charter holder. He has earlier managed a private equity portfolio (AUM US$250m+) and led investment banking mandates (US$200m+). He has worked on transactions and advised entrepreneurs in India, Middle-East, North Africa, Eastern Europe and South-East Asia. Mukesh has dealt with all type of investors (SWFs, institutional investors, family offices, HNIs, foundations, endowments & angel investors).

Ashwin is the owner of International Business Development, a company that acts as a liaison and a marketer for companies in USA, engaging in product development and technology transfers among other things. He also provides strategic and technical consulting, including business plan and sales strategy development in Asia. Ashwin is also an avid speaker and holds technical and motivational seminars.

Mr. Rajesh Shah, an architect by training has over 35 years of experience in social sector. In 1978, he established VIKAS, a not-for-profit organisation which has since been working with about 10,000 agriculture laboureres in coastal villages and 6,000 slum dwellers in cities of Gujarat state.

In 1995, he set up SAVE Ltd., for- profit, technical service organisation focusing on wealth generations needs of marginalised coastal communities including, agriculture laboureres, small & marginal farmers, fishermen & salt producers. The organisation is designed to provide techno-marketing services for enterprise development, natural resource regeneration and rural infrastructure development activities.SABRAS processing & marketing limited, established in 2007, is an enterprise jointly set up by salt producers & SAVE Ltd.SAHYOG Krishi Vikas Pvt. Limited is an enterprise set up jointly with 1500 farmers from salinity affected coastal regions of Gujarat.

He had also served as technical advisor to GRUH Finance for Housing credit development programme; Programme Director in ACHR – Asian Coalition for Housing Rights, Bangkok, Thailand for organising training programmes on Slum Up gradation in countries of Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka.

He is associated as visiting lecturer with School of Planning and Architecture, Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology, & Entrepreneurship Institute of India, Ahmedabad.

Anshu Bhartia

Anshu is the CEO of FWWB India. She is a Post Graduate in Operations Research. She has 17 years of experience in the corporate sector where her scope of work ranged across roles, responsibilities and industries. Some of her key contributions were developing optimal diversification strategies, project management, and developing and managing servicing strategies implemented through partners across the globe.

In 2010, Anshu joined FWWB, an ‘apex’ organization, registered as a Trust and Society, providing financial and capacity building services to organizations promoting livelihoods and self reliance of poor women. From 1982-2010, FWWB delivered on its vision by supporting more than 300 micro finance institutions (MFIs) and impacting 1.2 million lives. In 2010, the scope was realigned to support community based organizations promoting livelihoods of the poor that leverage benefits of aggregation through customized credit for working capital and assets and institutional strengthening through in-depth need analysis and providing generic and customized solutions.

In addition, FWWB provides credit for developmental financial products for water and sanitation, solar lighting and education to MFI partners thus enhancing lives of the poor. FWWB has also initiated an empowerment program providing financial literacy, basic health & hygiene awareness, and leadership building for women of households impacted through all FWWB programs/projects.

Siddharth is an IIMA alumni who worked as a senior manager in Edelweiss Capital for 4 years. He left his corporate life more than a year ago to volunteer full time for organizations like Gandhi Ashram, Seva Cafe and Moved By Love.

Vikram Parmar
Vikram Parmar

Vikram works as an Associate Professor and Joint Director of VentureStudio- Center for Innovative Business Design, Ahmedabad University, Gujarat-India. In addition to VentureStudio, he works as an adjunct faculty with the department of Design Engineering of Industrial Design Engineering, TU Delft.

He received his PhD in Industrial Design at the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands on “Design Framework for Developing ICT Products and Services for Rural Development- A case of Persuasive Health Information System for Rural Women”. He is an architect and industrial designer working on base of the pyramid context since the past 10 years in the domain such as low-cost housing, medical devices for affordable health, agriculture, and education. His work focus is geared towards improving social well-being by bridging the digital divide between urban and rural areas by developing ICT based products and services. His expertise lies in designing socially and contextually aware interactive products and services particularly in the area of emerging markets. He has published in journals such as Communication of the Association of Information System (CAIS), Information Technology and International Development (ITID).
